Hall of Fame
Jamie Walker Vernon was born in Houma, Louisiana and is the daughter of Roy & Nancy Walker of Campbellsville, Kentucky. She has one sibling, Misti Lowery of Simpsonville, Kentucky.
In 1999, Jamie enrolled at Cumberland College, and was a member of the women’s basketball team for four years. During her college career, she played 126 games and is tied for most games played. Jamie is tied 4th all-time for most 3-pointers made in a career with 153 3-pointers. With a career 3-point field goal percentage of .371, she remains 5th all-time. On December 11, 2001, in a game against Knoxville College, Jamie scored 11 3-pointers and a total of 44 points. She remains the leader for most points scored in a single game. Additionally, she scored over 20 points in 9 games and over 30 points in 2 games. Jamie received several honors including MSC All-Conference Honorable Mention (1999-2000, 2000-2001), MSC All-Conference First Team (2001-2002, 2002-2003), and NAIA All-American Third Team (2002). At the end of her career, Jamie had scored 1,492 and is 5th on the all-time scorers list.
After graduating from Cumberland, Jamie worked in healthcare for ten years and obtained a Master’s in Business Administration. She currently teaches science and anatomy at her alma mater, Taylor County High School. Jamie is also the assistant girls’ basketball coach at TCHS and is finishing her Master’s in Teaching at Cumberlands.
Jamie resides in Campbellsville with her husband, Brent, and their two children Bryce (8) and Jaylee (7). Brent, a 2006 Cumberlands’ alumnus, is the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Campbellsville University.
