Libor Janek is a native of Pøíbram, Czech Republic. Libor started his swimming career at the age of 6 and constantly improved his national rankings until he became a member of the National Czech Junior Swim Team, representing his country at various international meets as well as capturing a few Junior National Championship titles. His journey in the United States began as an exchange student attending Mt. Dora High School in Mt. Dora, Florida, where he was graduated in 1997. It was during this time Libor decided to postpone his return back home and attend an American university where he could easily combine his passion for swimming with a solid academic education. This decision led him to University of the Cumberlands. Libor majored in Biology and Computer Information Systems, earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Cumberlands in 2001.

At Cumberlands, Libor broke numerous school records, earned 9 NAIA Championship titles, and was awarded 32 NAIA All-American and 2 Academic All-American awards. He holds a couple of NAIA records to this date. In 2000, he was named the NAIA Outstanding Swimmer of the Year. Libor did not only excel in the pool, with his 4.0 GPA in each of his majors (3.9 overall), he was recognized as the Most Outstanding Biology student and the most outstanding Computer Information Systems student during his senior year.

After his collegiate swimming career was over, he accepted an Assistant Coach position with the UC swim team where under the mentorship ofGarry Nelsonhe served as a technique specialist coach and helped in development and growth of the UC swim team.

After Libor's debut coaching experience at UC, he accepted an Assistant Coach position with theMen and Women's team at Minnesota State University in Mankatowhich lead to an Interim Head Coach position the following year. As a Head Coach, Libor started the revival of the struggling NCAA division II team and ended his season with 16 school records. During his time at MSU, Libor earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.

Post MSU, Libor decided to pursue his academic career in Computer Science and after some time spent traveling around and exploring the hidden American treasures, he settled in California where he accepted a position with Google. After an exciting year in the Silicon Valley, Libor transferred to Google's EU headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, where he served as a Product Manager for internal systems.

In 2007, it was time to move on and Libor embarked on a year-long unforgettable journey around the world, taking in 11 countries in 11 months. Upon return home, he settled in the Alaska of Europe, Finland. Libor currently resides with his family in Helsinki, Finland where he is self-employed (owner of 360swim.com). He also serves as a Swim Coach at Uinti Espoo (Cetus Masters Club), the largest swimming club in Finland.
