Darcy Lynne (Mascotti) Whyte was born in Kettering, Ohio, and is the daughter of Mitchell and Lois Mascotti and Sharon and Scott Vallery. She has two older brothers, Tony and Jesse, and two step-siblings, Zach and Erin.
She attended University of the Cumberlands from 2009-2014, earning her Bachelor’s in Biology with pre-med emphasis in 2014 and completed a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies in 2016 at the University of Findlay in Ohio.
Whyte was named the MSC Freshman of the Year for cross country in 2009 and was a four-time all-conference selection and a four-time NAIA All-American. In 2012, Whyte placed 19th at the NAIA National Championships to earn All-American honors. She was also part of UC’s Distance Medley Relay team that earned All-American honors in both 2012 and 2013. Whyte gained her final All-American honor in the 1000 meter run at the NAIA Indoor National Championships. Whyte set school records for the 1000 meters, 3000 meters, the distance medley relay, and the 1500 meters. During her time at Cumberlands, Darcy met the man who later became her husband, Donald, who ran on the cross country and track teams, as well.
Her fondest memories of her time at Cumberlands include hanging out with teammates and getting to know Donnie. They have been happily married since September of 2016 and reside in Ohio. Darcy is working as a Physician Assistant for SaVida Health, a medically assisted treatment program for patients suffering with substance use disorders.
