Bill is a 1960 graduate of Cumberland College. As a member of the 1959-60 Cumberland Basketball team, Bill set a college scoring record of 668 points with a 20.8 scoring average per game. His field goal shooting percentage was 57% and his free throw percentage was 75%. He was voted first team All Conference of the KJCC. After leaving Cumberland, Bill played basketball for Kentucky Wesleyan College. In 1962 he lead the team to be ranked 4th in the nation with a 21-4 record. He also set a new KWC field goal record of 22 goals in one game. This record still stands today. Bill has had a very successful coaching and teaching career for the past 37 years. He is currently in his 23rd year as the Head Basketball Coach at Walters State Community College. Under his guidance, WSCC teams have won 10 TJCCAA Coach of the Year Awards. His other honors include being selected as an Outstanding Young Man in America in 1971. And, just last night, he was inducted into the Tennessee Junior and Community College Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Bill has been as active volunteer for Special Olympics and served as a Past Board Member for the Boy's and Girl's Clubs of Morristown, the American Heart Association, and as a member of the Lions Club International. He and his wife, Marcia, are the parents of two daughters. Bill is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, and he currently resides in Morristown, Tennessee.
