Pierre Pether Carlsson, the son of Pether and Pia Carlsson, was born and raised in Nykoping, Sweden with his sister Emelie Carlsson. Pierre recalls his father and friends playing golf every weekend, which caused him to take notice of the sport. At first he thought golf was boring, slow-paced, and required a lot of technique compared to soccer. His sister was his biggest golf competition, but Pierre soon found himself playing with his father and friends.
Pierre attended Tessin, his school in Nykoping, with a focus on economics. During his time in school, his childhood passion for soccer turned completely to golf. His focus was now on his daily practice sessions at the local club, Nykoping’s GK, where he spent entire days hitting balls and playing rounds of golf. This resulted in great improvement in his game, making his average score drop from 76 to 73. This improvement allowed him to succeed at both local and national tournaments his senior year.
While at Cumberlands, Pierre majored in Psychology and excelled in golf. Under the leadership of golf coach Chris Kraftick, his game became stronger and he found his biggest competitor was himself. At first, having trouble with his mental game, Pierre focused on training sessions coached by Derek Watkins and endless golf drills at Crooked Creek Golf Club. His mentality soon became his strongest tool as a competitor and a player. Pierre said “coach seriously didn’t let anyone leave before everyone had completed their drills”. From 2008 to 2011, Pierre earned the following honors: MSC Freshman of the Year, three time MSC All-Conference Team, NAIA All-American with an 8th place finish at Nationals, NAIA All-American First Team with a 10th place finish at Nationals, and 2010-2011 MSC Player of the Year. During his career at UC, Pierre played 76 rounds, made 13 All-Tournament Teams, had four 1st place finishes, and a scoring average of 74.01.
After attending UC, Pierre continued his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he studied Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Psychology and Business. In Spring 2016, he earned his Master’s Degree in Operations Management and Control at Stockholm Business School in Sweden.
Pierre currently works as an Auditor and Accountant in his hometown of Nykoping, Sweden.
