Bob Long came to Cumberland from Miami Jacobs Communtiy College, and in only two and one-half seasons he re-wrote the Indian record books claiming 15 individual records. He still ranks third all-time leading scorer in Indian history with 1830 points, but has the highest career scoring average of over 28 points a game. He also holds records for field goals made, free throws attempted and made, and rebounding average. Twenty eight years ago, he set what is still the single game scoring record of 58 points versus Mississippi College. He was selected a 2 time Indian MVP and also received MVP honors in several tournaments. Long was selected for All-Conference and All-District honors and was named a two time NAIA All-American. His biography appears in the 1969 edition of "Outstanding College Athletes of America." Bob currently resides in Troy, Ohio, and is a health and physical education teacher for the Lemon-Monroe School System.
